Cashew Allergy Alert

OSKRI Corp. of Lake Mills, WI is recalling 3.53 ounce bags of “Peach Granola”, because it may contain undeclared cashews. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews and/or other nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The recalled “Peach Granola” was distributed nationwide to travel plazas and retail stores. The product comes in a 3.53 ounce, flexible plastic bag, UPC 666016111743, marked with the following stamp, which can be found on the front of the bag in the upper right corner: P 3/3/12     EXP 9/9/13     LOT 75 No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the problem. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the cashew-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of cashews. Milk Allergy Alert: Café-Tasse S.A.

Café-Tasse S.A., based in Belgium, is voluntarily recalling its 1.58 oz. Café-Tasse Noir (Dark) Belgian chocolate bar with best before date of “15 SEPT 2013” because it may contain undeclared traces of milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The product in question was distributed in the following states: VA, MA, WA and CA from January 2012 through mid-April 2012 and was sold in retail stores. The lot code affects only a total of 11 cases of 30 bars of this product that were sold by 7 retailers and 1 distributor, all of who have been contacted. Product involved pertains to the 1.58 oz. (45 gr.) bar with bar code of 54000219 505504 and expiration date of 15-September 2013. It does not affect any other Café-Tasse chocolate bars or sizes. Soy Allergy Alert: Tyson Prepared Foods, Inc. March 7, 2012 Tyson Prepared Foods, Inc. is recalling “Arrezzio-Cooked Beef Pizza Topping Manzo Cotto Per Pizza” due to undeclared soy. The packaging identifies the products as beef, but they actually contain pork, which includes soy as an ingredient. The products were sold to food service institutions nationwide and intended for use in restaurants or institutional food operations. Whole Foods Market is recalling its 3 ounce and 26 ounce Pumpkin Bundt Cakes because the products contain undeclared milk. No illnesses have been reported to date, however people who have allergies to milk, run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The recalled Pumpkin Bundt Cakes were made in Whole Foods Market store bakeries and sold at stores in Fresno, Monterey, San Rafael, San Ramon and Santa Cruz. The 3 ounce Pumpkin Bundt Cakes were sold from a service case or displayed in small, clear plastic clamshells marked with a scale label #21630100000. However, many Girl Scouts have food allergies and cannot eat the cookies that they are encouraged to sell. This major fundraiser by the Girl Scouts leaves some girls feeling excluded. My daughter is a Girl Scout and has celiac disease. In the past 2 years, she has sold over 300 boxes of cookies, but can't eat any. There are over 100,000 in the same position as my daughter and many girls who won't join the Girl Scouts because they will feel excluded from this major activity. To encourage a change so that all girls feel included, I started an on line petition to encourage the Girl Scouts to sell an allergen free cookie. We have almost 9,000.
