Type 2 Diabetes - The Importance Of Smart Snacking

For Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics, the importance of healthy snacking is something that cannot be emphasized enough. Since maintaining a constant and appropriate blood sugar level is a key component in maintaining their condition, eating healthy snacks is one of the most efficient ways to accomplish this. But there is also a fine line between snacking and abusing it. Too often, diabetics use it as a way to justify squeezing in additional meals. Snacking begins to mean more and more food until it resembles a whole other meal in itself. That's why its important to stay within the recommended guidelines, so that something meant to assist doesn't end up sabotaging you instead. An appropriate amount of food to consume is approximately 100 to 200 calories (420 to 840 kilojoules), of smart food choices.
